1. Introduction

Welcome to winklly ("we," "our," or "us"). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the winklly web application and services.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account.
• Sign in with Google. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile photo link with us. We use them only to create, identify and secure your account. If the email matches an existing winklly account, we link Google to that account. We don't request access to your Google contacts, files or other Google data, and we don't store your Google password or Google access tokens. Google's own privacy policy covers how Google handles your sign-in.

• Content Data: URLs you submit, documents you upload (images, PDFs, videos, audio files), and any text you input into the platform.
• Telegram Data: If you connect your Telegram account, we receive forwarded messages and media sent through the integration.
• WhatsApp: When you connect or enable WhatsApp with winklly, chat message body content used for winklly features (including generating summaries from messages or links you send or forward) may be processed by winklly and may be sent to third-party AI providers as described in the Artificial intelligence section. Phone numbers used only for routing are not included in model prompts. WhatsApp and Meta’s own terms and privacy policies also apply. Delivery and availability of WhatsApp messages are not guaranteed by winklly. If WhatsApp is not connected or enabled for your account, this section does not describe active WhatsApp processing.

• Voice notes. If you send a voice note on WhatsApp or Telegram, we send the audio to Google Gemini to make a transcript, and we store the transcript with your account. We then send the transcript to Google Gemini to summarize it and to suggest options or an opinion about what was said. That opinion can be wrong or incomplete, and it is not professional, medical, or legal advice. We do not send your name, email address, or phone number with the audio.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide, operate, and maintain our services.
• To process and summarize your submitted content using AI models.
• To categorize and organize your content library.
• To improve and personalize your experience.
• To communicate with you about updates and changes to our services.
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and abuse.

4. AI Processing

winklly uses third-party AI services (such as OpenAI and Google Gemini) to generate summaries and extract key information from your content. When you submit content:

• The content is sent to AI providers for processing under winklly's arrangement with those providers.
• winklly does not claim that providers never retain your data or never use it for training. Retention and training are governed by winklly's arrangement and each provider's terms.
• Generated summaries are stored in our database and associated with your account.

Content classification

To identify what kind of content you saved (for example, an article, a video, or a recipe), we may send the link, its title, and a short excerpt of its text to TypeSafe AI, Inc. (model "Jev"). Requests reach TypeSafe through OpenRouter, an AI routing service that passes the content to TypeSafe and returns the result. We do not include your name, email address, or phone number in these requests. If this service is unavailable or can't classify the content confidently, we use Google Gemini instead. These providers process this content to provide the service to us, under their own terms and data policies. The statement above about what we do and do not claim regarding provider retention and training applies to them as well. They process data outside Israel, including in the United States, and where required we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual commitments. Asking a question is separate, and is described under Asking questions.

Asking questions

When you ask a question in winklly, we send your question to Google Gemini to generate an answer. We also send information from your saved items so the answer can be based on them: titles, short summaries, key points, category, and the link or file name. When you ask about one specific item, we may also send text from that item. We do not send your name, email address, or phone number with these requests. To choose how to answer, we may also send your question, but not your saved items, to TypeSafe AI, Inc. (model "Jev") through OpenRouter. The statements above about provider retention, training, and processing outside Israel apply to these requests as well.

What's new for you

When you save something new, we compare it with items you saved recently to find what is new or related for you. To do this, we send the new item's summary and summaries of up to five related earlier items to Google Gemini, and we store a short "What's new for you" note on the item. We also keep a list of facts and topics drawn from your saved items, so later notes can build on them. This list is visible only to you, is included when you export your data, and is removed for an item when you delete that item, or entirely when you delete your account. We do not send your name, email address, or phone number with these requests. The statements above about provider retention, training, and processing outside Israel apply to these requests as well. You can turn this off in Settings. Notes already created stay until you delete the item.

Calendar export

When a saved item contains a date or an appointment, winklly may offer to add it to your calendar. You can download a calendar file (.ics), which is created in your browser, or open a Google Calendar link. The Google Calendar link opens Google's site with the event title, date, time, and any location or notes filled in, and Google's own terms and privacy policy apply there. This feature does not connect to or read your calendar, and nothing is added unless you save it.

Analytics and session recordings

If you choose "Accept all" or turn on Analytics in our cookie settings, we use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how people use winklly and to find and fix problems. PostHog records events such as pages viewed, buttons clicked, and errors, together with technical details such as browser type, device type, screen size, and approximate location (such as country). It may also record sessions, meaning a reconstruction of your activity on screen (such as clicks, scrolling, and page changes) that we can replay. We configure session recordings to hide what you type and the content you save, such as your items, messages, and summaries. When you are signed in, we link this data to an internal account ID, not to your name, email address, or phone number. We use this data only to operate and improve winklly. We do not sell it or use it for advertising. PostHog processes this data on our behalf and stores it in the European Union (Germany). PostHog is a US company, and where data is accessed from outside the EU or Israel, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual commitments. Session recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days, and other analytics data is kept only as long as needed for these purposes. If you do not, PostHog is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time through "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. If you are signed in, we also save your cookie choice to your account, and your most recent choice applies. When it allows analytics, we may also send PostHog a small number of events from our servers about actions such as saving an item or connecting WhatsApp or Telegram, including actions you take through those apps. These events are linked to your internal account ID and do not include your phone number, chat details, or the content or links you save. If you turn analytics off, we stop sending them.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides industry-standard encryption at rest and in transit. We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information, including:

• SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit.
• Row-level security policies on our database.
• Secure authentication with session management.
• Regular security reviews and updates.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your data with:

• AI Service Providers: To process and summarize your content and to answer questions you ask (OpenAI, Google Gemini, and TypeSafe AI through OpenRouter).

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. Besides essential cookies, we use analytics cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage) only if you agree to them. See "Analytics and session recordings". If you choose "Accept all" or turn on Marketing in our cookie settings, we also load advertising tags from Meta (Meta Pixel) and Google (Google Ads). These use cookies and similar technologies to measure how our ads perform, and may be used to show you winklly ads on other sites and apps. Meta and Google also use this data under their own privacy policies. You can change your choices at any time through "Cookie settings", and you can also control cookies in your browser preferences.
